I find it disheartening that so many people, regardless of religious belief or lack thereof, cannot or will not follow simple trains of reasoning. At this point it isn’t even understanding logic, they seem to disregard cause/effect and observable reality in favor of their positions.

My biggest disappointment is people who cannot understand that any necessary consequence of a position they support is something they are supporting. If you support, for instance, a law that will guarantee some innocent people being murdered, you support the murder of those innocents. Otherwise, you’d say “no, we can’t have that law”. If you support it as an unwanted price for something you feel you need, it’s still something you support. “It’s not good, but it’s the price we pay to have this thing I want” is supporting it while acknowledging it isn’t good.

That single thing is so prevalent that it makes it nearly impossible to discuss actually changing things for the “better”, whatever that means, with people who think things must be a certain way or they’re somehow wrong. And it’s not the only example of the lack of basic reasoning skills, they’re everywhere.

    • John, you may want to consider this as a partial reason for why so many people, in essence, had created a reality of their own:

Language Is Key To A Truly Modern World & To AI

IF all words had only one specific meaning it would be much more difficult to deceive people or even to lie. Try to perceive how different the world would be with only that one simple change. The multiple meanings of words actually defeats the very purpose and original intent of communication, and then, by extension, confuses thought and the process of itself.

This, I give to you as an assignment in meditation. Whose idea was it that words have more than one meaning each? Think who it may benefit, and whom it may harm. That which confuses and confounds, benefits those who would use that knowledge against honest, but innocent, well-meaning people, with the larger harm being done to Humanity; the damage of which will be with us in perpetuity. We cannot undo the damage already done. Anti-human beings (aka genetic psychopaths), would benefit most, with certainly the greedy and otherwise dishonest also reaping benefits; all at the expense of all of Humanity.

And now, with AI and other technology that relies upon input being exact, we can no longer allow for words & language that have other ways in which to do us harm. Imagine yourself being born into a world where all words have only one specific meaning each. Imagine no one ever again being confused or misled by misunderstanding. Imagine all people speaking plainly, specifically and forthright, and of everyone being used to that. Not think of how difficult it would be to deceive or to lie in that world without standing out and becoming known to all as a deceiver. No pathological liar could be tolerated as a participant in that world for very long. Imagine how that one change could make everyone feel so much secure and closer to each other. Imagine virtually no one having bad intent against you – because such ideas would not even enter their thoughts. Of course, in a world where real ‘bad guys’ are eliminated from society, where greed no longer exists to destroy our planet, this would cause a domino effect, so that other things would change as well. A new society would be borne out of that, one of human harmony, and by necessity, one in which people would no longer have to work for a living due to robotics. All of the reasons for people having to lie or deceive each other would be eliminated.

This IS the kind of world that we all should have been born to. It is the kind of world all future generations deserve and which we DO have the power and responsibility to give to them. And, which, they will surely cherish our memory for giving to them. They will have hindsight and will become people of relative genius; they will see and understand so much more than all generations before them. If this is the world that we all work together to insure & to achieve, what other can we be, but to be ever loved for this caring deed, and for our love for them & foresight in making that new and better world possible? Would that not be anything other than a truly actual modern & safer, saner world?
